January 2012

January 21, 2012:
Dear Prayer Partners,

Krista and I appreciate your prayer support for our ministry!

Today I am getting packed for my third annual trip to Nairobi, Kenya.  My ride to the airport will show up at 3:00 AM on Sunday morning and I will take a series of flights, arriving in Nairobi the next day at 1 PM in that time zone.  That is equivalent to 5:00 AM Eastern time; just add 8 hours to Eastern time for the current time in Kenya.

Over the next week I will participate in meetings to:
  • Review the progress of computer-related (IT) work in Africa,
  • Discuss evolving standards and the technology solutions to meet ongoing needs,
  • Firm up curriculum for the coming year of African IT training,
  • And develop action plans to prioritize and tackle this work.
Please pray that my trip would be smooth, free from illness, and for the Lord to give our team guidance and insight as we discuss all that needs to be done with our limited staff and funding.  These days, having reliable and efficient technology is key to accomplishing Bible translation and language development for the 2,000 language groups who still need God’s Word.  Please pray for Krista as well, while I’m gone – often during my trips, things at home seem to break unexpectedly, so be praying for the Lord’s protection there too!

This trip will be all business for me.  I expect to have a few hours next Saturday to do a bit of shopping in Nairobi, but then I will board the plane that afternoon for the long return trip home.  Since I won’t be doing any “touristy” things on this trip, I probably will not be posting live updates on Facebook nor pictures on our website during the trip, but after I return home I will share about how I saw the Lord working.  In May, I expect to return to Kenya again to help with this year’s IT training program, so I will stay a bit longer then, Lord willing, and maybe do some consulting on that trip too.

Krista and I feel so blessed to be part of what the Lord is doing!  We are also blessed to have a team of people praying for and supporting us.  It is our desire that the Lord use us, as part of the team, to make the biggest impact possible as people learn about Christ and grow through having the Bible in their heart language!

For God’s Glory,

Hank & Krista
