April 2013

April 27, 2013:
Dear Prayer Partners,

Thank you for your ongoing prayers and interest in our ministry!  May 12 is approaching quickly, when Krista and I will begin our trip to Nairobi, Kenya.  We will be there until May 28 and I will be helping as an instructor during the two week IT Connect training program.  This trip will give Krista a good introduction to Kenya as we consider possibly moving there in the future, and she will meet some of the staff serving at the office in Nairobi.  Once we get there, Krista will probably be sharing her thoughts, feelings, pictures and perspectives online.  We will let you know where to find that if you are interested in following along.

We have begun to receive some donations to help cover the cost of Krista’s airline tickets, $400 so far.  The total amount we need to raise is $2,400 and it is not too late to help if you feel so led.  The tickets have already been purchased by the office in Africa and the cost will be billed to our Wycliffe account in May.  If you would like to help cover this special expense, it is important to send in your gift by May 15 so that it will be included in the month-end processing to offset the major cost of Krista’s ticket.  For a link to Wycliffe’s online giving site and other traditional ways to give you may visit our Donations page here.  Thank you for considering this – whether you are giving or praying we appreciate it!

Below are some specific prayer requests:
  • I (Hank) would appreciate your prayers as I complete the development of four courses for IT Connect: Windows Server 2008, Smartphone Technology, Cloud Computing, and Network Management Principles.
  • Please pray that the cost of Krista’s airline ticket will be covered.  Thank the Lord for the funds that have begun to come in!
  • Praise!  Amanda will be graduating from Appalachian State University with a degree in Nutrition on May 11.  Yes, the day before we leave for Kenya.  As part of her completion requirements, she will perform an internship this summer in three different settings and then she will be seeking a job in her field.
  • Amanda has been struggling with a digestive problem for a number of months.  Various medical tests have been run but the results have not yet defined the cause.  Please pray that the source of the problem will be identified and resolved.
  • Praise!  Nick is completing his sophomore year at Liberty University and then returning to Waxhaw, NC for the summer.  He is already job hunting for summer work.
  • Praise!  A new missionary named Phillip Shipley will begin his assignment in mid-May as the Manager of Application Development and reporting to me.  We are excited for his arrival and we thank the Lord for raising up a team of partners to support Phillip and his family as they begin their role as missionaries!  For more info you can see their website.
In Christ’s Service,
